Wedding invites are the first part of your wedding your guests will see and it’s very important that you ensure all the information required is included.

One of the first considerations should of course be the invitations themselves and the information that should be included. For example- what day your wedding will be on, the date and time, and the location. Your names also need to be on there. You should include information on if you are having a reception after the ceremony and where it will be held as well. You wedding invitations should match your wedding theme and colour scheme. Doing this will gives your guests an indication of the type of wedding you are having, e.g. formal/informal.

Don’t want wedding gifts just the money…

So you’re getting married and you’re wondering how to ask for money but don’t want to sound rude or ungrateful.

One way to ask for money is to add a poem to your wedding invitations for example-

Example 1-

So what do you get
For the bride and groom
Whose house needs things
In every room?
When shopping for a present please don’t be rash
As there is always the option
To just give cash!
We hope you don’t find
Our request to be funny
But we really would appreciate
A gift of money

Example 2-

If you was thinking of giving us a gift,
to help us on our way.
A gift of cash towards our house,
would really make our day.
However, if you prefer to purchase a gift,
feel free to surprise us in your own way.

Or you can have a wishing well at your wedding reception where people put money in an envelope anonymously and place it in the wishing well. This option means people who don’t have much money don’t feel pressured into putting in loads of money.

If you choose a wishing well make sure you mention in your invites that you don’t require gifts and that there will be a wishing well at the reception for anyone who wishes to give you money.

When asking for money remember to still give people the choice of giving you a gift as some people like to follow old traditions and prefer to give a gift.

Colours that work together for a wedding

You may be wondering what colour to have as your wedding theme or you may want more than one colour and struggling to choose.

You don’t just have to have one wedding colour, there are many colour combinations that work together well and allow you to have more choice when choosing wedding invitations and stationery, bridesmaid dresses, decorations etc…

Animal print wedding theme

So you want an animal print wedding theme but don’t want it to look too over the top. The key is to not over do it. Below are some tips on how to not over do it for your wedding breakfast, evening reception, decorations, wedding cake, bridesmaid dresses & your wedding invitations and matching stationery -

Wedding breakfast tables-

  • A simple white table cloth with black/ brown napkins will look sophisticated, too add in your animal print theme have your place cards printed in the animal print you require.
  • Your chair sashes, again simple black/ brown sashes will blend with your theme.
  • Your table centre pieces could incorporate your animal print by having animal print candles in a simple bowl or an animal print vase with flowers in.

Evening reception tables-

  • Have a simple white cloth across the table and put your favours on the table (have your favours with animal print on, for example animal print boxes/ organza bags).
  • If you are having evening chair covers keep the black/ brown sashes on.

Evening decorations-

  • You could blow up some brown/ black balloons and have one animal print balloon amongst them.
  • You could have a wedding sign made with the names or background printed in animal print.

Your wedding cake-

  • To keep your animal print look sophisticated your cake could be a simple 2 or 3 tier cake in white or ivory with animal print ribbon around the bottom of each tier with brown/ black( artificial) flowers on the top.

Bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen suits-

  • Brown or black bridesmaid dresses and matching suits would be a great way to blend with the theme.

Wedding flowers-

  • To incorporate the animal theme into your wedding flowers you could use animal print ribbon or simple black/ brown.

  • Choose wedding invitations that have the animal print subtly placed and not an over the top design. Animal print can look sophisticated if placed correctly.
